STAHL-ING FOR TIME...
THIS IS A SITE UNDER DEVELOPMENT: Stay tuned for more content in the near future!
Welcome to my personal website and blog, with posts including stories I’ve worked on as a award-winning broadcast operations professional, as well as more personal pieces relating to current worldly affairs. Journalism is no longer just about a byline. Now more than ever, there is a face and personal brand behind the media, which is just as important as the content itself. It is my hope that this website will give you a taste of both.

MY BIO
Buckle In...and let life take you places you never foresaw.

Hi, and welcome to my site. I take it you WANTED to know more about me... or why would u be here?
I am a born and proud Iowan, who's family moved to what were the then rural outskirts of suburban Chicago. Don't look for it, the town is still there...but the lifestyle is quite different now. I bet I will have some thoughts and reminiscences on that in the blog...at some point.

I am the 3rd of 4 Stahl children. I am blessed with a great family, full of interesting characters, past and present. I will have some reflections on them in due time in the blog.

I am an veteran Media Professional, having worked on many Emmy, Peabody, Dupont Columbia awards over the years.
I started in the business at 13 on WDGC-FM, my High School's radio station. I will likely share some airchecks from over my radio and TV work.

I spent much of my career at CNN, contributing to CNN's golden age, joining the network in 1984 and leaving in 2012. I have gone on to work for Al Jazeera, MLB Network, NHL Network and CBS News.
I call Brooklyn home now, having spent time in Des Moines, Woodridge IL (Chicago), Carbondale IL, Atlanta, Washington DC and now NYC.

All I ever wanted to be...was a audio board op at a radio station...a job that barely exists anymore. My personal career opbejectives were surpassed a long time ago. I just buckled up...and went on a great personal adventure. I have been so blessed to cover the "First draft of history." for most the major events of the past 40 yrs. (But like I said...I started at 13).

Most of my career I have managed others...and I have taken great pride in the people and facilities I have managed. Watching my staff succeed was the most fullfilling things in my career and i WILL have thoughts on how to treat the people you manage, to get the most from them...but more importantly to me, how to be a successful leader, meeting your business goals, while also making my staff feel appreciated.

I also see myself entering a new phase of life. I see the finish line of this phase of work life on the horizon, at a youthful age. I want to blog about the feelings, plans, and fears of moving towards that.

Oh, and I have some thoughts on the politics and american society of our times. I will blog that too.

Ok let's get started...this is running long and it makes me look like I am "Stahl-ing for time." (yeah I think it is a lame pun too...other names for the site encouraged)
